Blanchette and his wife Cynthia Baker of Bristol, James J. and Barbara Blanchette of West Granby, and John T. and Tonya Blanchette of Henderson, KY; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna L. and William Reopell of West Rutland, VT and Jo-Ann B. and Joseph Silverio of Plainville; a brother, Gerald E. Blanchette of Bristol; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Joseph R. Blanchette, 82, of Bristol, husband of Pauline (Magnant) Blanchette, died at his home on Sunday, July 25, 2010. Joseph was born in New Bedford, MA on May 15, 1928 and was a son of the late Adrien and Louise (Carreau) Blanchette. He resided in Bristol since 1957 and was employed as a Research Chemist at the Royal Typewriter Co for 35 years before retiring in 1991. He was a graduate of Southern Massachusetts University and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Bristol where he was a daily communicant. In addition to his loving wife Pauline of 57 years, Joseph is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Paul J. and Nancy Blanchette of Burlington, David W. Blanchette and his wife Cynthia Baker of Bristol, James J. and Barbara Blanchette of West Granby, and John T. and Tonya Blanchette of Henderson, KY; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna L. and William Reopell of West Rutland, VT and Jo-Ann B. and Joseph Silverio of Plainville; a brother, Gerald E. Blanchette of Bristol; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Joseph Roland Blanchette. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, 8 AM from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Joseph Church, Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home today (Tuesday) from 4 to 7 PM.
